Quote by NuclearToastPersonally I
liked you're under arrest. Although long winded at times, and some episodes
didnt really go anywhere, it certainly had good story lines in several places.
It was fresh compaired to so many cookie cutter anime types out there. Namly Big
robots that only children can pilot, or harem type anime, or magical girl. For
something compleetly different, yet still good to watch, its a good steady paced
anime with quite a few suspenceful action scenes and wonderful comedy. Like the
episode where one of our girl's gets her drivers licence. I couldnt help but
smile
Granted it is long, and sometimes boring, it is still worth
watching.
d girl u mean is it natsumi ! d very reckless 1 ! but awsome in motor vehicle !
if u r talking about her ! yeah it is true ! by d way thanx 4 posting on my
threat !
Quote: very interesting putting all
these pieces together, the lighting is very interesting, the shadow on the floor
seems unaturally dark, parhaps too dark? but other than that, it looks pretty
good. I like your origional art, that is hanging on the walls. One question
though, this piece interested me, Who is Ryu ?
Hi! Thanks for the constructive and kind comment. Well maybe you're right for
the shadows (was hard indeed, never did it such a one before ). Ryu is a
japanese drawer. A beautiful and talented girl who draw sometimes some
characters ^^ I asked her the last time to use one of them =)
Quote by NuclearToastAre we talking
about exposing new people to "classics" or classics that spawned
anime as we know it today.
Battleship Yammoto = classic I cant really get into this, cause of its style, my
friend who likes old things loves this series and has begged me to watch it....
Urusei Yatsura = Classic that helped mold what we see today. Want to debate
this? Think of the earliest "Harem" anime, that spawned an entire
genera...
Think about how many great series followed the example of Urusei Yatsura but
just adding more characters than its predicesors.
You have Ranma½, Tenchi, Love Hina, and many many more.
Now days there are even more anime that have more harem action... like that maid
one where the boy inherits a house of 2000 maids who want to do nothing but
"serve him"
Tenchi = Modern Classic imho.... it spawned a more modern look to anime, its
much cleaner and artistic compaired to earlier anime of the time.
However if you were to "introduce" anime to people, i think you really
have to be careful and not show them something that is too.... deep... wierd, or
disturbing
I can't tell you the number of people i have met at an anime con (or that i have
converted into being anime fans) and their first dreadful experience with anime
was Akira.... they hated it because it was disturbing and wierd, with a giant
bloated explodeing baby. Gross!!! There are a few people that LOVE akira the
first time they see it... but these people are few and far between.
i say the best way to convert someone to anime, is show them a Good Solid anime,
one with likeable characters, No bizzar distorted gross things...
Sofar i have successfully converted over a dozen friends to anime, by showing
them
Last Exile,TenchiNadescoCowboy BebopNoirLove HinaPilot candidateBleachNaruto
Hana Yuri Dango (for romantics)Feature films:Ghost in the shellPrincess
Mononoke
Spirited AwayThe Cat ReturnsWind Named AmnesiaCastle in the Sky
Anyway, there is something for everthing.... please know the person your
exposing to anime, don't just assume that everyone will love akira (I HATE
Akira)
Wow! Thanks for such and extensive list.
Yes I did actually mean all time classics dating from "before our
time".
I must agree that Akira is not a good movie to start with (just as FLCL confuses
first timers), but I watched it after I knew that it was considered a classic
and wanted to see what all the hype was about. Could better appreciate it then.
I
really like your name, very funny or good sense of humor. Your
name caught my eye while I was viewing through the member index. By
the way, welcome to MT!
Feel free to ask me anything or to talk.
